The Time To Prepare for a Second Covid-19
Dr. Fauci testified before the Senate today that it is
absolutely certain that there will be further outbreaks of Covid-19 cases. But
he said he was concerned that the "reopening" could cause even more
outbreaks.
On the other hand, Rand Paul says there will be no second
wave. Who to believe
The White House predicts that there will be another 10,000
deaths following the opening of the country. But they do nothing to discourage
this.
The idea of a wave is reminiscent of spikes. People talk
about spikes as if they make it easier for people to get around with people.
"Don't worry, we are past the summit." We create tips. We finish the
spikes. We lower the peaks. And we can make new spikes. Exceeding the peaks
only means that the hospital beds are more empty. This does not mean that you
have to complete them.

One question is whether there will be one big wave or many
small waves. During the 1918 flu pandemic, when 650,000 Americans died,
different parts of the country had different patterns depending on how they
handled social distancing:

Philadelphia detected its first case of a deadly and rapidly
spreading flu strain on September 17, 1918.

Although the cases have not been reduced in many places and
may increase during the summer. Let's talk about fall when people think of
bigger peaks. We could have millions of children going back to universities and
schools, flu season, sports, and other things could start.
Will a second wave be worse?
Unmitigated: If we go into the fall fighting for PPE, unable
to get Remdesivir or therapies, with exhausted nurses and the ability to try to
hold back, it could be worse.

Muted: if we stop thinking and planning illusions, we can do
it differently.
Guidelines are emerging on how to be safer at work, on
public transport and in other parts of public life. These must be present for
all elements of society. The guidelines here are good.
With all that we have to do, why prepare a second wave now?
If we want to tempt fate and then release social distance, we need to be better
prepared. Save all possible lives.
