New Trending Smartphones For 2020
Our list of best 2019 phones has changed drastically thanks
to the new smartphones that slide in until the end of the year: the Galaxy Note
10 in August, iPhone 11 in September and the Google Pixel 4 in October. That
means it's smartphone shopping.
Picking up one of these top handsets is an expensive
investment, regardless of whether it comes from Samsung, Apple or Google. Some
of these phone prices start at $ 1,000, so you want to take your decision
seriously. But don't worry: we are here to guide you through the ins and outs
of each other ... together with our professional opinion about where they stand
in relation to each other.
Our idea of the best phone has a large screen, but is
still easy to handle; contains a camera package that can replace a point and
shoot; and has enough processor power and battery to get work done while on the
move. You won't find any slow smartphones on this list with anything less than
a whole day's battery life.
The best smartphone of tomorrow? That will probably be a 5G
phone, such as the Galaxy S10 5G, and ultimately a folding phone with 5G,
starting with the Huawei Mate X and Samsung Galaxy Fold. But folding phones are
unproven and 5G in the US is not in enough cities across the country to
recommend. Our list remains practical.
Why we have more than one choice: we have a top choice, but
not everyone searches for the same smartphone functions. Some will demand iOS
13 and stick to Apple's iMessage, while others want customization and Google
Assistant tools available in Android 10. Our phone reviews and the best phone
list reflect that diversity.
Your contract with AT&T, Verizon, Sprint or T-Mobile is
also preferred. The best phone for AT&T may not be available on contract on
Verizon and vice versa. Although we have seen more unlocked phones in the US in
2019, not all are available to every provider. We must take this into account
when recommending phones, and we prefer phones that are fully unlocked or
available on most (if not all) the four major providers.
Our choice for the best phone not only rewards the latest
iPhone and calls it a day, although our list has many well-known names: Apple,
Samsung, Google and LG, all in the top 15. Newer companies in the US love
Huawei and OnePlus also make the list, although their limited availability is
noted.
