Why has My Refrigerator Stopped Making Ice?
Nowadays, most ice machines in all types of refrigerators work on the same type of principles. On the other hand, repairing ice machines in your fridge is not a very difficult task. You can solve most problems instead of calling experts.
To do this, you need to make sure that you follow some obvious steps. Samsung refrigerators usually generate about 120 ice cubes per day. After emptying the ice box and letting the unit run for 24 hours, if you see that the freezer produces less than 50 cubes per day, your refrigerator needs service.
However, if your Samsung ice maker does not work depending on the number of cubes it produces each day, there are some variations in the procedures you should follow.
When it produces 50 to 90 cubes
First adjust the freezer temperature to a reasonably lower setting. The ice maker must be 0 degrees Celsius for proper operation. Then make sure that the water valve located on the refrigerator water supply line is fully accessible.
If there is a water filter in the refrigerator, replace it. To do this, follow the instructions in the user guide.
When it produces less than 120 cubes
A single ice maker usually produces a tray full of ice every 90 minutes. If you want to make more ice cubes during this time, lower the freezer temperature. Pressing the Freeze button will increase the ice production speed if you have the Freeze feature in the refrigerator.
In freezing capacity mode, the freezer fan and compressor operate for 10 hours in a row. The ice formation interval is therefore reduced from 90 minutes to 55 minutes. You do not need to worry about turning off the freezer button as it will automatically turn off after 10 hours.
Point of consideration; If you have just installed the refrigerator, it will take approximately 6 to 12 hours to produce the ice. Then you need to get rid of the first three batches of ice cubes made by the ice maker to make sure you make the ice clean water.
In addition, there may be a number of problems for which your Samsung freezer has stopped producing ice. Be sure to review all possible reasons, such as:
1. Make sure the ice maker is in the "ON" position
There are several ice machines that have a switch located on the ice machine itself. Make sure it is in the "on" position.
2. Was the water filter clogged?
Just behind your fridge is a water filter. For some reason, if the filter becomes clogged, the ice maker stops working and stops making ice cubes. Consult an expert or get ideas on how to change the filter.
3. Check the position of the "closing arm"
There is a plastic arm that can detect when the ice cube container is filled. When full, the arm moves up and turns off the ice maker. Therefore, make sure that the probe arm is in the down position and that nothing is blocking your path.
4. Check the water pipe
Check the water pipes behind the refrigerator, if any. Sometimes a moving refrigerator can bend the water pipe on the back of the refrigerator. If you think this has happened, remove the refrigerator about 12 inches and look at the water line for crimping with the flashlight.
5. Is the ice cube completely full?
If the ice cube is filled, the ice maker will no longer produce ice. This happens when the ice arm is positioned up. Therefore, pressing the small switch completely turns off the ice maker.
